Debate of Provinces in Pakistan.. and food for thoughts of Bangladeshi thinkers.

This is a an interesting article written in todays The Dawn (Leading News paper of Pakistan).

The article debates on the increasing/decreasing numbers of provinces of present Pakistan. Our dearest Bangladeshi Columnist might find a lot of fun reading and comparing this article with the events went on 1971 and also with those debates going on Bangladesh about decentralization.

The Debate on Provinces.

Software Implementation: Corporate, OPD, Pathology, Pharmacy, Radiology, Inventory, Purchasing fuhhhh.

That is too much to handle.

OPD, Corporate, Pathology modules were implemented few months back. Users have done so much of UAT and the issues piled up. Language barrier is such an important issue here, all those issues of these modules were sent to us in Dhaka and we worked. But the exact user satisfaction were not being made. Thankfully my resources (programmers) are fast enough. I am getting fast result from them. Hopefully within this month all these modules will be signed off.

UAT just started of Inventory and Purchasing. These two modules are solely on my shoulder. All user training, master data collection/verification/update are my responsibility. Quite a heck of a job to do that for fully running over-crowded hospital with three branches in Karachi. May God help me.

There is also newly found issues in H&R, Payroll and Schedule and Roster Modules. These modules got UAT acceptance in last year. But over the time, new users have requested for so many change requests. As the project has long after sales service period, I am bound to respect their requests.

Customized ERP Implementation

I arrived at Karachi on 8th of March, 2011 to lead an implementation team here. This team consists a project manager and two senior programmers.

Our duration of stay is still uncertain but it should not exceed three months. This is my second tour to Pakistan for the same purpose. Last time I came here as the junior most professional. It was between June 12-August 26 2010. And now I am the team leader. Time runs really faster than any body imagine.

Our client is Dr. Ziauddin Hospital. Dr. Ziauddin has three branches. So our application will be supporting multi-branching.

Here as a technical IT person, I should mention first about the architecture of our Customized ERP specialized for Health Care Domain:

It is deployed on Oracle Fusion Middleware and developed using Oracle Forms 10g, Oracle Reports 10g, Oracle Database 10g. Some of the integration such attendance machines are done using Java. We are also going to deploy a PACs server which is built our in-house and developed using Java Swing.

That is it for now. Will be back on time.
